Why I Created The OAAK Journal
I’ve always been captivated by the stories behind places, spaces, and objects — the people, ideas, and memories that shape how we live. I'm drawn to the intersection of psychology, design, and how environments influence our emotions and experiences, whether for living or leisure.
My work across the building, land development, and design industries in Australia gave me firsthand experience of these intersections. As my curiosity grew, I sought out places that resonated deeply — spaces that evoked a sense of belonging or offered a transformative experience. This curiosity led me to travel and connect with incredible makers, designers, and creators around the world to uncover their "why."
From the dreams of a homeowner to the creative mind and skill of an architect, the vision of a change-maker entrepreneur to the craftsmanship of builders and artisans — every project is a story of circular collaboration and connection.
I started The OAAK Journal to share these stories and discoveries — for design lovers, curious travellers, and anyone seeking greater meaning in the environments they inhabit and looking for the inspiration amongst the pause.
